Is it me or does there not seem to be any order re the time taken for the whole process to be completed. I have been looking at lots of threads recently and also been noticing when people put their times for completion which makes interesting reading. For the life of me i just cant seem to understand why for some it only takes months and others nearly a year (ok some do have problems with meds etc). Has anyone else been noticing this.

Take us for example, submitted LOI online mid Jan, selected following week. Come end of March no news so called NZI London to be told 'Yes you have been accepted, will be posting ITA tomorrow'. 3 weeks down the line phoned again to be told 'Didn't you receive them'-Uh No!!. Will check - ah your processor forgot to send out, will be going out tomorrow. " 2 days later it arrived. Sent back the completed ITA last week to get a letter today (yes a full 7 days to reply) stating yes we have received your ITA etc etc, we will inform you in the next 1-3 months. Why are we paying £££ for the privilage of waiting. Emailed my new boss in NZ to give him the happy news - he's so upset with the time taken that he's writing to NZI in Wellington to complain - should be interesting. I can see it coming now when our ITA gets looked at "Oh its them - bottom of pile":D

On a different note, i notice people are talking about phone interviews, does this happen to everyone??. Where can i get the sample questions asked that some people are talking about in their threads.

Oh well what can one do but wait and hope the new boss doesnt get cold feet and bang goes my job offer and points.:uhoh

Hi divemaster,

As you say it does all vary - we submitted our EOI May 2006, our ITA February this year and there are still problems so it seems unlikely anything much will happen this side of September for us.

As far as telephone interviews are concerned from NZIS I believe that it varies too. If you are lucky enough to have a job offer, then you may escape it.

Good Luck

Sorry to hear you are in the same situation - really fustrating isn't it.:(

We are keeping our fingers crossed as the OH has a medical condition that the doctor who did our meds said was nothing to worry about (was declared on the EOI) and the ITA when in with a consultant letter but you never know.

I suppose the longer it takes the more breathing space it gives one to get affairs in order.

Anyway good luck with yours.

There are a number of factors that affect the process time. These include job offer, whether the job offer is in a skills shortage area, getting qualifications assessed, medicals, registration with bodies such as nursing or teachers council. Also some people need to sllow the process down themselves so delay sending docs etc.

Every case is different and unfortunately delays are part of the rollercoaster of emigration

Hi Phil

Sorry to hear about your difficulties with NZIS. You say you have already got a job offer - have you informed NZIS of this? If you have a job offer you are usually dealt with pretty quickly.

Also, if you have a job offer, you don't need to have an interview. The interview is basically to find out how well you will settle (i.e. how will go about finding a job, what will you do to support yourself, what will you do to integrate/find new friends etc.).

Anyway good luck and hope NZIS speed up for you.

Had the job offer since end of January. NZI know about it as it was declared on the EOI and also the ITA.

Although in some respect a slower pace is better as it helps to get a breath now and then its the uncertainty of are we going or are we not and all that follows on from it. Also hoping the new company just doesnt get fed up and decide to offer the job to a local.

They say death, divorce and getting married are the top 3 stressfull things in life. Who ever composed the list forgot to put emigrating on the top of the pile.:laugh
