Hi all,

Well finally i am here in Auckland, bought a prepay vodafone sim card and have it up and running in my phone all ok. I can call and text anyone in NZ all ok, i can call the UK all ok, BUT text messages to the UK appear to arrive (so i am told) but i am being told that they cant reply or even send a new text to me here ?

Anyone got any ideas whats wrong? Anyone fancy trying it out for me from UK (PM me i pm number) i have told them to change the 021 to +6421 which i think is right, but someone told me use 0064 ?

Appriecate your tips, right now my main comms to home (texting) is a one-way street!

Yes Lee - from the UK it will be 0064 followed by your mobile number (minus the first 0) so that's 0064 21 ******

Yep Jules is right Lee, folk must use the international dialing code of 0064, followed by as you say 21(just drop the 0).

Well to contradict the others, I text by just using +44 and then the number to contact my mates in the UK. I know that my texts reach them as I get replies...

HI

I am having same sort of problem, only my texts dont reach the UK on the vodafone pay as you go card, whilst my hubbys do ??

Logged a call to vodafone nearly a week ago, made numerous follow ups calls as not heard from them - still no reply !!

And getting charged for the texts going too...

it seems the +64 thing seems to work also, a couple my mates now managed to reply using the +. But still seems weird that about 70/30 of friends can text me, and not totally sure "all" my texts getting home.

Hmm

The + enables you to dial a number from any foreign coutnry and it puts in the 010 or 00 or what ever the country uses. Saves you having to keep changing the prefix. so either + or 00 will do from NZ or UK.

Sounds like a dodgy sim to me take it back to where you bought it and ask for another.

Really? Howcome..?

Seems to do everything else all ok, just now got 2-3 mates in uk that say texts always "fail"..

Are they replying on one of your text you sent or starting from scratch putting the number in their phones?? Are they allowed international calls on their mobiles plan?? If not they may not be able to send.

They're in the process of updating their billing systems for account customers. It really should have no effect on texting ability...
