Hi everyone,

Could anyone give any advice if the rules are different once in NZ when applying for a work to residence. We are thinking of coming over on a working holiday visa and then applying for a work to residence permit once over there - does anyone know of the process? Would we still need to get over 100 points and apply for an EOI or would the process be different? We were hoping that if we went over there on a WHV we could apply for a work to residence via gaining a job for 2 yrs which is $45,000 per year etc. Would we still then need to fill out an EOI or could we go down this route and gain PR at the end of it?

Any info / advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You don't choose whether to apply for a WTR visa or PR, that is decided by NZIS.
You put in the application via EOI in exactly the same way for both, and you need to meet the points criteria to get selected from the pool to continue with the application.

You can work for 12 months on a WHV and then claim points for NZ experience. You can also apply for a work permit once in NZ with a job offer.

ok thanks for that - Do you know what the process is for a work permit and also what the difference is between a work permit and a WTR / PR?

Thanks

can i just verify something.
It is posible to gain a perminent residence visa without having a job or an offer of employment !!
My wife (main applicant) has a masters degree (currently being verified in nz) and is a university lecturer so is on the skills shortage list. the job she would do is not as readily available as most and it may take a while for the right post to come along.
as i understand it (from the chart in the above link) we could still gain a pr visa without her having a job.
am i right??
