We are from Warrington and there are a number of other forumites from the north west area but I am not sure of any in Manchester / Stockport, although I work in Manchester.

there are north west meets, next one in July, where you can meet others in the same boat as yourselves

Welcome to the forum. As John has already said, there is a North West meet, about once a month, where like minded people from the forum meet up to discuss all things NZ related. We used to go to them when we were in the UK and they really are useful.

You don't have to worry about spending a couple of hours just talking about NZ and boring everyone to death. If you can you should try and get along to one - they're a great bunch of people.

I have just bumped the North West meet thread back to the top with details of when and where we are meeting. See Meets / Get togethers

We are a friendly bunch and you are most welcome. We gained some really good tips from the North West team who are now NZ side and most of us have recent photo's from our recce's over there to share (bore you with).

Look out for the NZ flags we drape over the chairs.

Click on the drop down menu called Forum Jump at the bottom right of the page. Select Meets / Get Togethers - click on North West Summer Meet.
I'll post a new one for the meeting after that August time.
