HI There

This is my first post on the forum but an avid reader :)

My Girlfriend and I have managed to get a 3 Year working Visa for NZ with a view to residence if we like it (Foregone conclusion I think!) MY OH has been in Wellington for 6 weeks now as her job had to start early May. I am shutting down operations this end selling everything we own.

I have been looking into how best to ship over the few items we do want to keep like our clthes and some keepsakes etc etc

I got quotes fromthe 'big movers' for approx 15 cubic feet and most quotes were coming back at around £500 I thought this was a bit pricey so looked into excess baggage on the plane. Air New Zealand refered me to a Cargo Handling company Called Amber Worldwide, a very Helpfull guy at Amber "Steve" Told me that they could do an Airport to Airport transfer for all my stuff (85 Kgs) for approx £300 plus it would be at Wellington Airport for pickup within a week not the 12 weeks quoted by the moving Co's!!! He said there would also be a customs clearence fee of about $100NZ upon pickup.

Has anyone else used this method of transport as it seems to good to be true!! :D

Hi
We used Excess Baggage for a 35k box from the UK to our place on the Kapiti Coast.Came to around £285 I think. Delivered the box for packing(with bubble wrap & tape) prior to the collection date. We phoned them when to collect.Arrived on the button to collect.Notified them by fax once in NZ & arrived within the week of collecting from the UK. straight to the door.We were notified by the agent this end the eta of our parcel too.The co. they use in Auckland were helpful, friendly & efficient. We were so pleased(as we'd never done this before) we sent them a testimonial. Would reccomend them if you're interested.
Good Luck
Vicky
