Still awaiting teachers registration but OH has started sending off cv and letter of application to primary schools in the ecb area.
Sent off 21 yesterday and so far have had 1 response - saying they would have vacancies in September and will keep her in mind, and would be call in to see them when we arrive to put a face to the name.
Fairly positive but not enough to get a wp or to complete eoi.
If nothing else comes up we will have to come out on visitors permit.
On the house front, kitchen should be completed 7th July, windows completed this Saturday, so house on market 8th July.
On the job front, I have informed my employer relations department when I want to finish (18th August), so they are now arranging my redundancy.
Hope to travel out first week in Sept, have a week in LA on the way and arrive in Auckland 13th Sept.
See you all soon

Sounds like you'll be arriving in NZ a few days ahead of us! I haven't started sending out CV's yet, but now that PR and all that jazz is sorted, I need to get on it!
Good luck getting the house finished and on the market!

Glad things are beginning to happen for you now - you'll only be a month behind us. :nice1 Thought you'd planned on renting the house out though?

MIL getting used to the idea that we may not return after a year.
If we do return we could not afford to live in the same house anyway, also house and garden are looking good at the moment (except the kitchen) and worried about how well tenants would look after the place (particularly if we decide to sell without returning to UK).
so made decision to get on the market now and avoid the hips. not left ourselves much time though.

Best of luck Speckythecky; guess the lack of response is a bit disapponiting ? Worth contacting some teaching agencies? Certainly vacancies in the Far North where we were in April but unless you know the area, research carefully as very rural.
Will watch your progress with interest......we think we are going down the ECE line if we can; one years study to get diploma and then apply for one of the many ECE jobs advertised on the Teachers Gazette. :cheers

OH discussed the diploma for ece with someone at the convention in london and is considering doing this. she was told that some schools would pay for you to do it.
also got e mail today saying that kindy teachers with degrees are very rare and if they are in state kindys the pay is the same as primary teachers so she is looking at contacting the kindy associations.
will keep you posted of what happens in the future.

Hey John, sounds like things are finally moving for you. Must be a great feeling to have finally decided the date for your own redundancy? :D I know how bored you have been. ;)
Good luck on the house front and job front and hopefully see you this side sometime in Sept/Oct.

I don't suppose many people get to choose the date of their own redundancy. All the people in my role were displaced 8 months ago and have all either left or found other roles within the company, I was working on special projects at the time of the displacement and remain so but have been told that when someone remember I exist and should have gone, they would start my notice period, however I was given the option of picking my own date so I thought I might as well stay where I was and keep quiet until thinks were moving along on the nz front.
We decided that we didn't want the boys starting a new school year in UK so September is the time to jump on the big silver bird.
