On Thursday we received our letter confirming we had our approval for a PR. We are really excited and should be heading out after Christmas. I am the main applicant and had always said after two children no more. But I was wondering what would happen if I got to NZ and a few months later got pregnant? Both my husband and I both work in IT (he is higher the management chain than me!) and he is happy enough to support the whole family. But I want to know about the implications to our PR and any job I am likely to do.

Thanks Berni

I believe a child born in NZ to parents who hold PR qualify as NZ citizens so your baby would be entitled to a NZ passport. I would imagine that as long as you worked any minimum requirement associated with your PR (if you have this condition) then pregnancy would hae no bearing on your PR status. I have no experience of maternity leave etc so will let someone else answer that part of your question.

And - congratulations on being approved!

Congrats! :clap :clap :clap . I think there's a three month window but there are others who know more than me. Personally I'd stop at two, give up work, let OH support the family and hope no-one notices there aren't anymore anklebiters.:exit
