Can anyone confirm the first day of the next school year will be Feb 7th? Things are stacking up quite strangely for Jan next year as my wife needs to carry vacation forward if we're to make it to NZ for the start of the school year as she has to be employed on 1st Jan in her current job (don't ask, it's complicated :) )

I think it is up to the individual school, as long as they are open for the set amount of days in that term.

Can you ring the school you're planning on sending your children to and ask?

Normally the kindergartens go back on the 29th and most of the schools go back on 7th, after the bank holiday.

It will still be worth ringing the school to double check as it may vary area to area what date they go back.

My kids go back 4th Feb, but that could just be Christchurch.
