Hiya everybody.....i have been reading this site with interest...very good site by the way...and your all so friendly..which is great.
My name is Darrell and i'm from Sheffield in the U.K...I'm 46 years old and i'm looking for a way to move over to N.Z.....I have been a bus driver for the last 18 years and don't really want to change my job...i love it....I can't find my job on the skills list so i'm trying to find out what my chances are of getting the same job over there...I have driven well over half a million miles and in all that time i have never had a blameworthy accident or a customer complaint I work for a company called Stagecoach.
After reading quite a lot of this site it seems the best person to ask is Kim39 but i wanted to hear if anybody else knows anything first...thanks to all.

A big welcome to you. I can't answer your question specifically but Kim has been a great help to me in the past. He's a great guy and I'm sure if you PM him he will reply. I haven't come across any bus drivers as yet but good luck in your mission.

Both Wellington and Auckland buses are branded Stagecoach but are actually owned by Infratil. See http://www.infratil.com/default.htm. Perhaps a direct approach to the company would be a start.

Not my line of work Darrell, but i'm sure I've seen adverts in the press for the bus companies looking for drivers in the Hamilton/Waikato Area as they are planning to improve the bus services around the city in particular.

They are called 'Go Bus' around here, their website is

Hi darrell,

My advice would be to email as many companies you can find on the net, bus companies etc, you would be amazed how many contacts you can make this way.

I emailed a catering firm in NZ and I have been asked to get in touch when I land...and that was the MD!!!!
