Hi everyone,

Just a quick question. Me and my girlfriend are going over to NZ next year on a WHV and will then be applying for a work to residence once over there. Another option may be to fill in an EOI once over there. Would my job have to be on the skills shortage list or would I just need to get enough points one way or another? I currently have 100 points and with a job offer will have 150 but my job (project management) isnt on the skills shortage - could i still submit an EOI with this job?

Thanks

Tony

There is a distinction between a job being skilled and being on the skills shortages list. So in answer to the question in your post title - yes (there is a list on the NZIS website of roles that are classed as skilled).

But the job does not need to be on the SSL. If it isn't though, your employer will need to prove they could not hire a Kiwi and you won't be able to claim to claim bonus points for employment in a skills shortage area.

I would highly recommend that you read the NZIS literature on all the skilled migrant visa types, so you know all the options before you start out - especially since they're changing some of the points rules next month :roll

Thanks a lot for that. I'll have a look through the NZIS literature. I currently have 100 points at the mo but with a suitable job offer i could potentially have 150, just concerned if i'll be accepted if the job isnt on the SSL.

Thanks

IT project management is on the long term skills shortage list. Number 12222 IIRC.
