We are coming over as tourists from the UK, do we need to apply for any kind of visa or visitor permit when booking our flight tickets?

Cheers!!

Other countries of course the visitor visa is valid for 3 months. Australians and holds of Australian PR/RRV holders don't need a visa at all (unlike NZ PR/RRV holders going to Australia!).

United Kingdom and Australia

British citizens and other British passport holders who produce evidence of the right to reside permanently in the UK can visit for up to six months without a visa.

Australian citizens and people who hold a current Australian Permanent Residence Visa or a current Australian Resident Return Visa do not need a New Zealand Visa to enter New Zealand.

Erm...very confused here. I thought you weren't allowed on the plane to NZ unless you had some kind of visa? Have I missed something?

No Visa required if you're just visiting (ie not planning to work) and from a Visa Free Country.

I'm afraid I have been living a lie for the past three months:o I remember checking the list and not seeing UK/GB on there. I remember thinking, 'how unfair' but having decided to apply for PR I didn't bother reading any further. That'll teach me to RTFQ.

Unfortunately that now means that I could just by a ticket and go - right here, right now- just for a quick look. Soooo tempting. The stuff dreams are made of.

Noooooo, really?????? I'm afraid I'm trying to suppress laughter here - really sorry.

As a UK citizen you get 6 months stay too, rather than just 3.

If you can, go for it. You'd be seeing NZ at the worst time of year so you wouldn't have any misconceptions, and taking a reccie trip is definitely recommended, if only to scout out where you may settle.

Ski season has just started too...

Croft - laugh away:roll Titter til you drop. Chuckle til you snort. Nothing can match the complete numptiness that I feel at this present moment in time. The sheer wanton embarrassment is tempered only by the fact I received my teacher reg certificate today. Shining role model am I not? :exit
Back again...sadly don't do skiing. Danger to self and others. I do a brilliant sitting in the rain and being grumpy though.

Don't worry - we've all had the numpty feeling I suspect!

Many congratulations on getting your teacher reg certificate. It seems to be a tradition around here to give you some of these on receipt of good news.

Unfortunately like the Microsoft Paperclip I find them very annoying and would love a tool that would allow me to blow them up!

That'll teach me to RTFQ.

A bit OT....I am familiar with RTFA, but not with RTFQ; is the Q for que? Or maybe question? PM me if you must, but please satisfy my curiosity!

Well if you tell me what OT and RTFA mean I'll tell you that RTFQ means what I used to tell my GCSE students, Read The Flipping Question; the rest of you can change the adjective as you see fit!:D

Oops, sorry, OT means off topic. RTFA means the same as yours, but the A stands for article.

Also RTFM, where 'M' is for Manual (I always though 'F' stood for something a little stronger - but 'Flippin' fits nicely). The answer to RTFM of course is WFM - What Flippin Manual.

Still hate the bananas!

Oh yes, familiar with RTFM, but more with DRTFM, as Steve and his buddies at work would use it to describe what was wrong with this or that person's computer or understanding of procedure...the D is for didn't:) I am also of the belief that F stands for something with a bit more kick!
