Can someone please help us understand the duty free shipment rules.... and understanding the official rules on what we're allowed? (For that matter, does someboby have the link to the official rules handy?)
Here are a few specific questions. And for those who have not been following our subplot of the soap opera, we're coming from US on PR visas.
1) Does it all have to come in a single shipment? For example, we were hoping to ship 'the house' in a container and air cargo a few delicate items? (That would be my guitars. :roll )
2) Is there a time frame in which all of this has to occur? For example, I was hoping to have a home established before certain items are shipped which cannot go in a container.
3) Locks.... Are we allowed, and I think it's recommended, to put our own lock on the container? (We're self-packing, so it will not be a shared container and we intend to be there when MAF does the inspection.)
4) Is there a tax deduction for the wine we go through in the process of getting all this stuff together and making the move? ;)
