We just got back from our month in New Zealand (AKA "So how many kilometers can Dad drive each day?"). We got an email while there about doing our interview, but our CO thought we were still in the US and we missed the first time. My phone range around 9pm as we got back from dinner in Wanaka and I got to do the interview after a few glasses of wine and no time to prepare. :no While my wife tried to keep the 6yo somewhat quiet I sat on the hotel bed talking to London on my pre-paid mobile (worth its weight in gold). I was able to dredge up what other people had posted here to help answer; I also mentioned how great this forum has been for us (he took down the website address). I got to play up my wife's newly contacted rellies up and down the country as part of our support network.

The CO didn't give any indication after we finished, but he told me that it would take two weeks to finish his work and the mandatory review. That would be right when we got back to the US, so we had a bit more anxiety for the rest of our trip.

I didn't hear anything via email, so I was getting a bit anxious (even sent a note to the CO and got an out of office email) - went to check the post and there was a letter from London...... We've been granted PR.... OMG! Now we can finally move past "what if" to "when we." Our plan to is move over to the South Island in June 2008, after our daughter finishes first grade. We already have some interest in our house (from the friends who stayed in our place while we were in NZ) so that hurdle may be a bit easier than we feared.

After so much work to get here, it almost feels a bit anti-climactic (heresy) - I think it will take some time to really sink in. Thanks again to all of the wonderful people who make this forum so welcoming and helpful; I think it has been a big part of keeping us sane, since we knew we weren't the only ones going through this!

congratulations!! :raebanana:

I remember feeling like the wind had been knocked out of me when we found out we got our PR so I think it does take awhile for it to sink in that it's finally happened.
