Hi,
Haven't been on here for a long while but always found it helpful. Looking for ballpark figures of immigration consultants - anyone used them? Could you tell me the cost? Just trying to get an idea if what we are being quoted is reasonable or not.
Thanks.
Sarah.

Hi there,
Not too sure of costs (guessing around the £1k mark ) but I just never understood the point of them. Unless you have quite complicated circumstances or going for one of the less common visas, you can get all the info you need off forums.
Think of all your forum buddies as immigration consultants :clap

I got a "quote" from a lady in Tauranga she was asking NZ $6.000 for a skill immigrant case.
I could only laughing about it!

We nearly used one and it would have cost about £3000 altogether, the paperwork and processes look so daunting at first. But it's not that bad, we saved ourselves loads of money, and all the info you need is on the NZIS website - I hadn't even found this forum at that point, so I did it all by myself. It was fine - easy!

Hi Sarah
We were quoted 3400 GBP by a company. In the end found it easier to deal with everything ourselves rather than having to do all the work then send it in to a company for them to collate and check everything and then send it on to immigration.
If it's a complicated case it may be worth getting a consultant involved.

hi we used an immigration company called nz4u it cost 2500 pounds however,we did get the money back from my husbands new employer(nz). Also we didn't pay any money until we had a job offer but again i think this forum has everything you need to know about the whole process

I would agree with all the above. Have never seen the point in using immigration consultants - they fill in exactly the same paperwork as everyone else. They can't get you any extra bonus points so unless you have a particularly unusual application then I wouldn't bother - just ask your new found friends on the forum if you're unsure about anything.

Thanks for all the replies. It's not for me, we are already here, we are sponsoring my parents and my dad feels that his case is a little borderline and is investigating using a consultant. One place said NZD 25K....a LITTLE steep?! But the others tie in with your quotes here.
Thanks again, as always very helpful.
Sarah.
