Doing some research on Whakatane but would love to hear from anyone who lives there now; Zardell are you still there (tried to look at your pictures you posted a while back but couldn't get anything to come up- what a pity after you tried so hard to post them!).
Neild, are you still in Papamoa?
We went to both on our reccy in Mar and particularly liked Whakatane. Now trying to decide places to live; need to be within reach of Auckland but only for me to spend 3-4 days there each term while I study on a distance course.

Any info on schools particularly helpful, primary and secondary. Have looked at the web sites but personal comments would be much appreciated.

And are house prices still rising rapidly?

My very best friend lives in Whakatane direct at the beach. It is a lovely small and quiet town.
If you need more info I am can forward you his email.
I know is a very good private school where hi lives.
