We need to get certified copies of our passports & work visa's for an international moving company who is shipping our stuff to Wellington. Who can we get to do this? Is it like in the UK where we can get a Doctor ect.... to certify a document. Do you know if the post office can do it?

If you are in NZ, the just use the yellow pages and look for a Justice of the Peace - they will certify your copies and (AFAIK) they are not allowed to charge you for this service.

If in the UK it must be Justice of the Peace or Solicitor, Doctors are not sufficient neither post office! We went down to our local court (that was interesting) and they did it there and then pretty cheap too, from what I can recall!!

Or your local police station in NZ - they'll also do it for free.
Welcome to the forum by the way :)

If you do this, i believe you need to do every page in the passport. The police I spoke to were unwilling to do every page.

Got mine certified by the local solicitor for FREE, much better than the UK where I was charged 20GBP to get it done :)

Police station or courthouse will do it. You just need photo page with passport number details and PR blue sticker page.

Police station will do it free, Courthouse wanted to charge us for the copying (although they didn't in the end) so if you can get your own copies then take them in to be certified it will be free.

Both Police & courthouse were more than happy to help. Only reason we went to both is because we went to cop shop and 'woman that does that' was in a meeting. Courthouse was across the road.

Done an dusted in ten minutes.

If you tell us what country you're in we can be more helpful.
