Hi folks,

Well, I've successfully achieved one of the key things on my list for the first week in NZ. I've opened a bank account with HSBC (went with them because I was with FirstDirect in the UK and transferring money will be easier/cheaper). They were quite reasonable about my lack of proof of address - I just had to get a letter from my employer and the account was opened same day. I've initated a transfer from the UK so things should eb sorted by the end of the week and I can stop burning up my UK credit cards!

It's so much easier than in the UK where you have to make an appointment, take lots of ID, have credit check etc.etc.

Bet you've still got a long list of things to do in your first week though. Hope your job is going well.
