Does anyone know if being infected by chronic hepatitis b would be grounds for rejection by INZ?

hi,
"We will consider that people have an unacceptable standard of health for residence in New Zealand and may decline their application for residence on this basis if they:
are likely to impose significant costs or demands on New Zealand’s health services or special education services "
the list of conditions which automatically assumed to be expensivee is found in the link http://www.immigration.govt.nz/nzis/operations_manual/7641.htm
in relation to hep B it is listed as
"Hepatitis B surface antigen positive, with abnormal liver function " - not sure if this describes you case.
There is always the posibility of getting a medical waiver if you can show that you wont be a long term drain on the health service

Hi Green25,
Unfortunately HepB is on the list of high risk/high cost medical conditions as 'renew' mentioned, but the Webpage he linked to does say,
"* Hepatitis B surface antigen positive, with abnormal liver function"
I am not sure what the part "...with abnormal liver function" means. You need to consult with your doctor and/or NZIS for this. I wish you well and hope you can get in NZ!

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your replies. My wife tested positive for the hep b surface antigen. My own case is not known yet. Her doctor recommends further tests to check liver function. We can only hope that liver function is not abnormal.
