Hi

Well we have arrived in Cambridge and slowly sorting our lives out. It's great, we move into our rental tomorrow which is great.

Mark has started work already, day 4 today and he loves it. So far so good. I'm now on the hunt for a job but there seems to be a few around thank fully.

For the last week or so we have stayed out at Karapiro, the most fantastic spot with a hot tub to relax in after a long day. The people we ave let the place from have been really helpful, I don't think we are the first people to stay our in our situation.

I can't wait to move into our own place tomorrow, even if the furniture situation is a bit minimal. What more do you need when you have a mattress and two cow colored bean bags!!!!

We got a car last week too so we can get around and the dog arrives on Saturday. A quick trip to Auckland to pick her up at 5.15am!!!!!!

So far everything is hunky dory and we get broadband in the next few days :raebanana

good to be back on-line and able to read the forum again, will kepp you posted.

Many welcomes to the locality Jo. Karapiro, lovely little place and to watch the sun go down in summer over Maugatuatri is just lovely. Hope all is what you expected.

Great job guys! :raebanana Hey I am following the same path as you guys except I applied for a longer Visa..

1) Apply for a Visa (30 month) - DONE
2) Visa Approved/Received- should be early next week (according to my visa officer)
3) Move to NZ - end of next week
4) Submit EOI w/215 points (1st week living in NZ)
5) Get Selected (+2 weeks?)
6) Receive ITA (?)
7) Submit ITA (?)
...
...

It will be nice to finally be in Welly working and living. I am getting tired of living in the USA...

:-)

Welcome to Cambridge, nice to see you both the other day! Glad everything is still working out well and the job is good (not too much bull semen then?). Hope the move to long term rental goes well. Enjoy the cow beanbags.

Does 'freecycle' operate widely in NZ?
I found a link to an auckland group but perhaps there is one nearer you. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AucklandFreecycle/

Its great - i use it a lot here - you can get stuff you need free or get rid of stuff for free
and it's a good way of meeting people

:cheers

freecycle in Auckland is growing but still pretty small compared to freecycle sites in North America and UK. People seem to go more for Trade me here, could just be that since everything is so much more expensive, people are less likely to give things away.

We were very lucky in that we found a South African family who had been here the required 3 years, go their citizenship and then were off to aussie coz thats where they wanted to be in the first place. But we got a buy a house full of everything, furniture, BBQ, kitchen stuff, duvets, you name it , we furnished our entire house for a very cheap sum. It tided us over until our own stuff arrived, and lots of it we are still using.
