I thought that people heading to Auckland might appreciate this - it's a panorama shot I took of South Auckland a few weeks ago. It's not Aucklands best side, but it gives you an idea of the greenery around and a view of one of the harbours. The hills to the left are the Hunua Ranges and the Bombay hills; In the middle is the Manukau harbour and the right hand hills are the Waitakere Ranges. I'll post a couple of links, since the orignal is huge and it breaks the forums.
The medium sized one is
here (http://www.PhotoShare.co.nz/PhotoShareGallery1/101474/108507/pano_edit12505_L.jpg) and the huge one is here (http://www.PhotoShare.co.nz/PhotoShareGallery1/101474/108507/pano_edit12505.jpg)
Be warned - the huge one is 2.7Mb, but it should fit height wise into a browser window and you can scroll across it.

I'll try and get a shot of North Auckland soon and show you what the good side of the city looks like :)

I've always found Google Earth (http://earth.google.com/) and also Wikipedia (http://www.wikipedia.org/) good for photos.

For example, Wikipedia has a panoramic view of Auckland CBD (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/15/View_from_Sky_Tower_Akl.jpg).

Where is that taken from?? I can recognise the junction onto route 20 at Onehunga, and I think I see Manukau city centre in there, the big building thats not far from the Westfield.

It's taken from the top of One (no) Tree Hill - which is about five minutes walk from where we live.

At least I waited until the tide in the Manukau was in :D
