OK, so I know it's only been a couple of days since us girls met up for lunch to wave off Linda, but I reckon we should be arranging the next meeting.

Plenty of notice will mean more folks can turn up.

The boys and I can make just about any time and date really, but as you know PB is away alot. He'd like to be able to come to the next meeting so I've jotted down the dates he'll be home.

Saturday 29th Jan
Sunday 30th Jan

Saturday 5th Feb
Sunday 6th Feb

Saturday 12th Feb
Sunday 13th Feb

Saturday 19th Feb
Sunday 20th Feb

If none of these dates are suitable then the poor old chap will just have to miss out again (violins playing).

I'll leave it with you.

Diny,

so far I can do any of those dates except 12th Feb we are at a wedding.

I think it would be only fair that we can make it when PB is back after all we all need to get used to a Kiwi accent :laugh :yes

And I promise to bring my purse this time

Linda - we'll see if we can do a video link to Auckland when we have the meet :laugh

Diny - all dates seem fine to me at the moment. Know this doesn't make it any easier to organise, but see what the others come back with.

Rimbo - yeah right, as if you'd really forgotten you weren't here :laugh If you're at Linda's at the time, you can join the video link!

Jo - I'll call you before you set off to remind you about bringing your purse . . . :laugh

Jan - look forward to meeting you. Persuade your hubby to come too, some of our hubbies are fairly quiet too, and are sure to welcome him.

Dates are fine with me. Are we going for the Salt Celler again?????

Diny
31st December 2004, 08:56 AM
Happen the Salt cellar is the easiest (well it is for us).

Just had a thought. Shall I bring my laptop (wireless internet cnnection) and then maybe get hitched up with Linda on an I.M. conversation.

So what if it'll be the middle of the night with her, it'll be a weekend so she'll habe no excuse about wanting an early night !!!!!

Jan - get that old fella of yours to come along. We'll be gentle (to begin with).

My nephew played at Wigan but they released him to Hull last year, his name is Shaun Briscoe.

Do you like the game ?????

Hi Jan

Unfortunately I am a Widnes fan (We have a lot to put up with), and Briscoe should have come to Widnes instead!

How about another NW meet at the social club (Halton Stadium) on 6th March 2005 (Unless Sky change it)!

4th January 2005, 06:18 AM
We would absolutely love to come to a meet - if you consider the IOM to be part of the NW that is :P

I'm not sure when our next trip is to the UK, but if we can't make any of these you've planned for now, (the boat is pretty rough this time of year :wah ) perhaps we can fit it in another time.

I'll keep my eyes open for future meets and look forward to seeing you sometime in 2005. :nice1

Debby & Keith

Babette & Andy
5th January 2005, 12:34 AM
That would be great Debby & Keith. Are any of the dates suggested by Diny a total no go at the moment? If you're able to plan a trip over, I'm sure we can try to fit around the weekend that suits you guys best.

Most people who've attended meets so far have 'simply' (ok so the traffic was really bad on the 28th :? ) come on the M6. Personally we only live 10 minutes away from the Salt Cellar. So, as it looks like you guys would be travelling furthest, let us / Diny know what date suits you best.

Look forward to meeting you!

Kim,
"Babies yed floatin" Mmmmmmmmm, don't think we'll find that south of Ashton!
the other month i asked for pea wet and the chippy (which shall remain nameless) owner said "we don't do pea wet"! what sort of chippy i ask you in Wigan doesn't do pea wet? :no
I walked out and bought a pie from galloways instead!

Susan may come to the meet and i'll try to get her onto this forum before i go so you can keep her informed.

I'm not sure if we could make the ones posted, the Irish Sea is a bit on the choppy side this time of year :uhoh and flying can be pretty expensive, but hopefully shouldn't be far off those dates.

We've nothing planned just yet. I'll keep a look out for your postings and also let you know when we're planning a trip. It would be wonderful to join in and meet you all.

Keith is from Stafford; I'm from Norfolk, so he knows your area reasonably well.

:cheers

Look forward to it.

Hi Diny/Everyone

Sorry for not responding sooner to your question about dates for the next meet, the 5th would be better for me rather than the 29th due to John leaving the morning after.

If this is not possible I will catch you all at the next one.

Am I a pain or what just joined and causing havoc already Soz  ,

Is the invite open to anyone?

We are in birmingham so not really NW, but just met up with someone from the forum form Poole.

Very strange ringing someone up (esp of the opposite sex) and saying hello it's me from the internet.

Dinny I think Mark invited you but you were too busy.

We had a good meeting and it was wonderful being able to speak to people freely about your plans. Also our daughter (7) would love to meet some other children looking to go, as she changes from positive to negative, the 'will I make friends'

If yes, where do you normally meet (ie where is the Salt cellar)

jo b

It would be great if you came along to our regular meets :nice1

The salt Cellar is just off juntion 18 M6 so is very easy to find.

Turn left of the junction and keep going until you hit a roundabout then you will see it on your left hand side.

See you there :cheers

Of course anybody is invited, it'll be great to see you there. Good too for your daughter. We all have youngish kids (the eldest being 9 I think) - so your daughter will have plenty of folks there to 'hang out' with.

The salt cellar is very easy to find.

Yeah - Mark invited me yesterday but I couldn't make it. I've heard from him today and he tells me you all had a good time.

PM me if you need any directions etc. Looking forward to seeing you.

29th or 5th is fine for us.

Would be great if you could spare the time on the 29th John / Suzy, we'd give you a proper send off :nice1 . We're a bit like your 'extended family' so come on, please say you'll come :cheers

Jan - it's direction Middlewhich, the roundabout that's referred to above is just before you come into M'which, with the Salt Cellar pub and playbarn being on your left.

Look foward to seeing some new faces, as well as all the 'old' ones too.

Hi

I've no problems with either date (The 29th is FA Cup weekend), but I doubt it matters to most, especially the NW being a rugby league area!

With a bit of luck I'll be fit & heathly for this one!

See you all soon.

Next meet on Saturday 29th Jan - if Rimbo & Suzy can make it (bearing in mind Jon leaves for his 'jolly' in NZ the next morning)
or, if not
Meet on Saturday 5th Feb - so that Suzy can attend and update us all on John's story to date?

It would be nice to meet other people in the same position, meeting Mark and Ann helped me feel less scared, as everyone seems a little worried about it.

Where are you all headed in NZ.

Hope to meet you all soon. :cheers

yeah kids are included. The Salt Cellar has a Whacky Warehouse attached to it so we don't see much of them.

We were originally heading towards Palmerston North (PB's home town) but have decided to move further up north. We'll now be in Thames, at the bottom of the Coromandel Peninsular.

Congratulations ongetting your EOI selected - you must be really happy.

The NW meeting is an open house !! The more the merrier. Looks like there could be one or two new faces there this time. I'm sure you'll enjoy it - it's great to be able to put faces to names and also a really good chance to talk with people who don't get bored when you can't change the subject :nice1

That is actually a recent picture of me (taken the week before Christmas) so you may be able to recognise me. I need my roots doing at the moment though - if I don't get a chance before the 5th just add a dark stripe down the middle of my head

Here's a tip for 'finding us'.

We'll try and sit in approx the same place/area of te pub as last time. Go in through main door and turn left. Right at the end of the room there's a couple of steps (I think) leading onto a raised part. If we all congregate up in that part again you'll find us no worries. If you want to PM me I'll give you my mobile number and you can give me a yell just as you're approaching the pub. I can come and meet you at the door if you want.

See you there.

By the time everyone has left you’ll make your grand entrance and they will have gone. Most of them will be in New Zealand with new lives and such... :laugh :laugh

Sorry, but seriously, I hope you all have a good time.

I have another interview lined up now for Friday 4th. I'm being taken to lunch too, by one of the directors!!! ;)

I'm going to the Salt Cellar this pm, to see if they'll break with their 'no-reservation policy'. Diny & I did a count, and reckon if everybody makes it, there should be around 30 of us :clap :clap So I'll see if they can reserve an area for us.

If so, it's likely to either be as described above: enter the main pub entrance (not the playbarn) then to the left you'll see 2 or 3 steps - that raised area; or else to the right, there's a little set aside area there too.

I'll put some signs on the table(s): North West NZ meet, for those of you who don't own shell suits or red roses

Look forward to seeing lots of new faces, and seeing the 'old' ;) ones again too.
