Bonus points awarded for skilled employment, recognised qualifications, and work experience in an identified future growth area will increase.
Bonus points awarded for skilled employment, recognised qualifications, and work experience in an identified cluster will be removed.
What's the difference between an identified cluster and a future growth area?
Where do professions of long term skill shortages fall?

I see sparkies are no longer on the Immeadiate list, but still on the long term list thank god! That's amazing, finding a decent sparkie who can do a job inside 3 months is all but impossible round here.

From the NZIS Website:
Identified future growth area
Industries in identified future growth areas offer New Zealand considerable opportunity to increase its prosperity. Currently we recognise three broad areas: biotechnology, information communications technology, and creative industries.
You can qualify for points if you can prove your employment in New Zealand is in one of these areas.
Cluster
A cluster is a group of employers within a particular industry who, though they may compete with each other, also work together co-operatively to gain greater business advantage. We currently recognise five clusters - you only qualify for points if your employer belongs to one of these five clusters:
Film Auckland
Wellington Creative Manufacturing
Canterbury Software
Canterbury Nutraceuticals
Biosouth
If you’re claiming bonus points for skilled employment, your current or proposed employer will need to confirm they are in one of these clusters.
If you’re claiming bonus points for work experience in a cluster you’ll need to be working in, or have an offer of, skilled employment and be able to show the work experience you have is relevant to that employment.
The Long Term Skill Shortage List is here: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rdonlyres/063ECB35-F5D5-44D8-8325-7041A727A9D5/0/1093.pdf
Hope this helps!

Still confused about Immediate Skills Shortage List, what does it mean if your occupation is on there? Does it help with points ? Can't see this anywhere on NZIM site? Any clues anyone?

Okay, so since my future employment is on the long term skills shortage list, I won't need to worry about the changes as it doesn't effect me?

Hi Carey,
I am as confused as you regarding the point of the ISSL for the skilled migrant category.
My job is on the ISSL but not on the LTSSL so I know you can't claim points for it on your EOI. I can't work out why they have an ISSL unless, maybe, if a job is on the ISSL for a certain no. of months/years then it moves on to the LTSSL(?). Or maybe it is relevant with job offers, employers not having to prove they have tried to fill vacancy with a NZer first.
I really have no idea and am just guessing but thought you might like to hear that you're not the only one that's baffled.

That's a relief Helen; I've looked and looked again on the NZIM web site and cannot find any further info and no-one has yet answered on here or in NZQA thread. Could email NZIM themselves I suppose? I'll let you know if I get a reply. Meanwhile still hoping someone on here will know; come on oh wise people of this forum????
