Have been reading all items on the forum with great interest over the last few months and have found lots of very useful information.
So just wanted to introduce ourselves.
We are looking to move over to NZ the back end of next year hopefully after selling our house and business.
Haven't been over there as yet! - but hoping to visit at Easter next year to try and decide on location.
Narrowed it down to a couple of areas to start with Tauranga & Nelson.
So any help on these areas would be appreciated - the main driving force behind this decision will probably be schools/best places for kids - we have 4 ages 8,8,5 & 4 !

Welcome to the forum :)

Yes, the benefits for the kids are what finally convinced me, we have four as well: 7,7,3 & 3.

Hope you find lots of answers here and good luck with the preparations.

Tauranga and Nelson were my favourites too :) Can't say much about living in either, not yet anyway, but I hope you enjoy visiting them next year. We're heading to Christchurch in October - not sure yet whether it'll be a halfway place on the way to Nelson or a more permanent thing, but if we make it to Nelson as we hope, maybe we'll see you there some time. Welcome to the forum! My son is a high school teacher in Tauranga and I have been there several times (planning a permanent move there as soon as the house sells). It is a really lovelytown - quite large, with lots of facilities including several really good schools. It's also very close to Mount Maunganui, which has beautiful beaches. The whole Bay of Plenty also has a really good climate, so I am sure you would enjoy it.

Wondered if you or your son knew of any particular schools in the Tauranga area that could be recommended ? [ primary & secondary]
Any starting point would be very helpful
Thanks

Hi Alicia

I will ask him what he thinks! He teaches at Bethlehem College which is a semi private Christian school ( not wildly expensive though), and plans to send his own son there once he starts primary as he believes it is the best school in the area. Otherwise I think it very much depends on which suburb you would be living in - Bethlehem School is in the suburb of Bethlehem, which is a really nice area. Here is a link to the school's web site.

Hope that helps!

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I just thought this might be of help. You can look up schools and their ero, (ofsted) reports here www.tki.org.nz/e/schools/.

once you've found a school you like you can then check the areas you will need to buy/rent in to be in the enrollment zone for your chosen school on here www.schoolzones.co.nz/enrolmentzones/Search.aspx.

That should give you somewhere to start.
