We planning our big move to NZ at end of the year - but hope someone will be able to give me some advise about the Universities. Our 17 year old son will be writing his final exams in South Africa and had planned to study Industrial Engineering in Pretoria. He is wanting to immigrate with us and now not to sure what a similar degree would be called in NZ. We plan to settle in Hamilton and hoped that he would go to Wiakato Uni as its closer to his mommy!!! ;) Can anyone give me some idea about a similar degree to Industrial Engineering or wht it would be called in NZ?
I also saw that there was some mention of soccer being played in Hamilton and they have a league team - any ideas on that?

Sorry so many questions but Im trying to get many answers for our son - to keep him positive!

here's a link to waikato uni http://www.eng.waikato.ac.nz/programmes/ which has their engineering programme..maybe if he compared each of the specialties with the course in SA he could narrow it down? or maybe contacting someone within the engineering department who could help your son.
(if he did it himself, it could be a really positive thing for him. give him some power over his future etc...this is coming from a 22 year old who has younger siblings in VERY similar situations :) )
