h all,
I have submitted a new EOI with my wife as principal applicant, with 110 points that was selected a few weeks ago, we have received the ITA but I just have a question regarding the recognised work experience.
On the EOI, I have claimed points for over 2 years of work experience for my wife. She trained to be a nurse for 3 years, then was employed for 17 months, when she then took up a place on a midwifery degree program which lasts for 18 months ( she is employed and paid a full time wage whilst doing this)
I have claimed that during her 3 years training as a n urse, approximately 50% of this was practical, I have also claimed for here midwifery training which is mostly practical.
They have obviously read the EOI and sent the ITA having seen this information.
My worry is that we go to all the expense of getting medicals and paying to submit the ITA for them to say that she only has 17 months experience and therefore we don't get the points.
Can anyone tell me if this may happen or if they have accepted the EOI will it be ok??
Any help or advice would be appreciated
Regards
Nick

Hi there

I'm not too sure but I do know that where the work was part time you have to calculate it differently (I think I read this somewhere in the notes of how to complete the EOI) so if you worked for one year but only worked for example 15 hours a week, you can't claim that you have one year experience but only 6 months.

If I were you I would try to get some more information from NZIS about it. I phoned them the other day with a problem about our ITA and was told it was best to e-mail so I e-mailed them to the generic e-mail address skilledmigrantslondon@doi.govt.nz (with the subject header stating the name of the person who signed our ITA) and got a very helpful and friendly response within 2 days which solved our problems.

Don't worry though, I'm sure it will all be fine but definitely ask because things like that can affect your points and if your points change it could affect your position

All the resreach I've done about the ITA seems to say that you should be fine. Its a full time position even if its a degree course.
I have had a couple of questions in the past and the emal address mentioned above is very good at getting back to you. Can I ask how long you were in the pool for, as i'm enter my EOI at the end of the month and have the same number of points as you.

Hi,
we were selected at the end of may and received ITA at end of June
Hope this helps.
The only slight problem that I can see is that my wife is applying with her nursing diploma and claiming points for work experience as a student midwife as part of the 2 year thing, I was worried they may say it does not count when they get the ITA, after we have spent a lot of money
This will be our second attempt as we had to pull out a couple of years ago as my wife found out that she had thyroid cancer, we had spent over a grand by that point and I don't want them to knock us back again (it's even more expensive now with new medicals/application fees etc!!)
We have had the ok on medical grounds after months of sending specialist reports etc, they made her see a panel doctor for a medical and he did not know anything about thyroid cancer!
Thanks again
Nick

I would email your case worker, if you are unsure of their address then try the name with a dot between forename and surname followed by doi.govt.nz, my case worker was very helpful.

EG name.name@doi.govt.nz
