I was filling out my EOI and came to the section about education. I have a degree in Computer Science and as I was fill out the form it asked me if my qualification had been asset by the NZQA. I went to there website and it would seem I have to send a form and $75 and then wait a month for them to get back to me. Surely there a list somewhere that I just can't find it. Any help would nice.

Try that link? Is that what you are looking for. I think if you are claiming points for long term skills shortage list you have to ultimately get your qualifications assessed anyway so might be worth doing it now, but if it's on the list of accepted qualifications then I think you can put the level it equates to in the EOI in the meantime.

Not too sure though. Hopefully someone else can confirm this

I think if you have a degree of a Uni/collage on the list you don't need to have put forward for assessment. Which is nice.

Cheers for the link.

When I did my EOI I found that as my degree was gained in 1992 it was recognised and I did not need to have it assessed. However, my husband's IT degree was pre 1992 and did require an assessment (it was called a preliminary assessment) to gain the necessary points.

When the ITA arrived I did not have to do anything further with my degree just provide the certicate. But on my husband's side it said submit an assessment (ie the full assessment). I phoned immigration up & without them taking my details and they stated "a full qualification assessment is required". But they also provided me with the email address for the london office. So I emailed them and asked advice. I put on my email my details and they got back to me within 3 days to say my husband didn't need to have the full assessment yet ... submit the ITA with the preliminary report (but they might require a full report later on). I did as requested and have been give approval in principle last month without a full assessment on my husband's qualification .... and without the added cost!

Hope that helps Berni
