Hi,

I have had so many mixed answers to this question and was wondering if anyone knew for definite:

I have a job offer, but can't apply for a work permit until my professional registration comes through (I'm a physio). The problem is that I am doing a 3 month travelling trip in October and I don't think my registration will have come through by the time I leave. So I have to apply for a  work permit when I get to NZ, 3 weeks before my work is due to start. I will be relocating to Napier. How long will a work permit take to go through? Is 3 weeks enough? I have read anything from 3 days to 6 weeks....

Thank you for your help.

Emily:eek:

Officially NZIS says 30 to 60 days, however if you have a job to go to I am sure it would be sooner than that, and others have found it can be done very quickly if you need it for work.

HI
I went into immigration Christchurch with our 6 forms complete with job offer, police checks, medicals and all the other documentation that is needed to complete the forms. I walked out with 2 work visas,3 student visas and 1 visitors visa. It took aout 3 hours to process.
Have everything in order and they do it same day.
We had made a couple of trips there over a couple of weeks but there was always something missing to do it there then.
Good luck.
Tracy.

Wellington seem to be taking up to 8 weeks possibly 6 if you're lucky!

Hamilton office took nearly 4 weeks with my OH `s job offer and completed employers (e1113) form. But, there are a lot more aplications passed through this office than, say, Palmy North.
Not really staying on thread here, but... When we phoned Hamilton last week to ask a few questions of our case officer, the lady in question seemed as much in the dark as we were as to the correct answers. We were not very impressed.

Update on our situation. My wife phoned our case officer in Hamilton this morning to run some questions by her in relation to a work permit aplication, only to be told that the lady we have bben dealing with has been moved to another dept. and that we dont in fact have a current case officer. Hmmmm!!!
