I haven't logged in for a while - we've been busy putting our house on the market - so gutted to be selling it - it really is our dream house - especially now we've just done the bathroom, but we've made the decision to move up the coast to Kapiti. We'll really miss waking up to the beautiful sunrises & views.

Its a beautiful house with beautiful views but I'm sure you find something just as nice up here with views of Kapiti Island. Where abouts are you looking at moving to in Kapiti ? We love it here with just a 10 minute walk to the beach wish I was my children :laugh

Sarah you will love the sunset in the summer down on the beach as it disappears behind the South Island which you can see on clear day.:yes . We go for a walk on the beach every Sunday morning with the children, the other weekend you could see the snow peaks on the South Island which was pretty amazing.

Fabulous house Sarah! Your views are stunning - and I love the way your cat has wandered into so many of the pictures...

Lovely home! In fact we are on the verge of modernizing our bathroom, and like the tile in yours. I saved the pic as an idea for when we get going.

I thought the commute was keeping you from coming further north. Hope you enjoy it up here though. :D

Fabulous house!! I know there must be some good reasons to leave your "dream house." Do you care to share any of them?

I would have a hard time leaving that view! Wow!

I was thinking of buying in this area - something smaller than this though.

Why do you want to move away?

If we lived there I'd never want to move. it's stunning and complete with pussy cat to - just puurfect...

We're looking just now but it's just above our budget - very unfortunately, but I'm sure you'll have many takers.

Good Luck

Yes we thought we'd never move either - but recently the thought of going nearly mortgage free if we move to a newer home up the coast (which means we get to see my OH's sister in Australia more often which is important now she's an Auntie plus more money for overseas holidays etc.) has been a real pull and has made the extra commuting time be a fair trade-off.

To be honest if anyone is looking in this area its a fantastic place to live - I love it - great amenities & a real dream for people who love kayaking/windsurfing/waterskiing etc. We have lots of friends here that I'll be travelling back to see regularly!

We also have 4 flights of stairs (the house is on 4 levels) which is fine for a couple (we never noticed it before out little one got mobile!) or even for someone with kids over say 3-4 years old, but for us its a bit of a hazard with our little one & another one hopefully on the way soon so we're looking at single level homes.

I'll be really sad to move & at the moment I'm feeling a bit pendulum-like about it all - one minute I can't wait to move the next I'm thinking how can we sell this place?! I know the mobility issue will only be a matter of a few years but the financial security pull is quite a big one - after all our original plan was to be completely mortgage free over here but then we fell in love with this house and the views...
