Hi all

I have already posted, but have realised I should have done this first.
My husband and I farmed on the KZN North coast for 16 years and I was a primary and high school teacher until I had children. We have a 12 year old daughter and 10 year old twin girl and boy. Crime has touched us too much personally and we fear for our familiy's safety and future. We have family in Aukland and they love NZ. We would really love to live rurally again and so we hope that my husband's honours degree in agriculture and my teaching diploma, as well as our working experience will be enough for the NZIS to want us !! We have many, many friends in NZ whom we would love to be close to again. We want to camp, fish, cycle and realx, anywhere, anytime without fear!!
I really hope we can achieve this.

This is the most fantastic forum. Well done!!

Regards
Jen

Hi Dave and Caroline

Thank you for your response. We have a loooong way to go because our application is complex. Our one twin is cognitively impaired and this may well be a big obstacle. Evidently, medical waivers are not given to applications going the skilled migrant route, but we need to investigate further. Having spent in excess of 50 hours trying to find answers to this questions, it seems as if we have to go through the whole process first before the fimal medical and then the decision will be made by the med officer. I am so reluctant to put my other kids through the process emotionally if we are to find out that we can't go anyway!! We shall see.
I am trying to be optimistic. We have to get away from here!

regards
Jen

Hi (again ;)) Jen and welcome to the forum !

I would say that a Medical Waiver in the SMC can be given, but it is true that it appears to be quite rare.

Since you already have family in NZ, wouldn't Family Category be an option ?

Good luck on your research !

Hi Nanette
We still have lots of family here so would not qualify.
That's if I understand the 'gravity ' caluse about having more family in NZ than in our own country.

Thanks tho', I did look into this. I have emailed NZ Immigration in this regard and await their reply, with regard to medical waivers for skilled migrant applicants.

Hi Jen,

Ah, I see, that could indeed be a deal breaker, sorry to hear that ! Hopefully INZ will be able to bring some light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. Will keep fingers crossed for you...
