HI

Submitting all our paperwork this weekend to Immigration for PR!!

Am i right in thinking all documents have to be originals (but get returned ?) plus passports need to be sent at this stage too ??

What we are wondering is, currently, we have used the passports for identity purposes and wonder what we can do ?

In most cases documents either have to be original or certified copies, if I remember it was clearly listed on the ITA which documents had to be which.

Some documents have to be originals e.g. police certificates and these will not be returned.

If you want / need certified copies then you can get them done for free in NZ e.g. by seeing a JP.

It is possible to submit the PR without the passport which can be submitted later, I also think you can submit it now and request it back if you need it.

From NZIS website:-
b. Applicants for residence visas must also provide a valid passport or travel document, or, if this is unavailable, a birth certificate or other identity document.

But would check with them first, if it was me.

If you are not sure and want to check then I would just phone NZIS as it is free in NZ.
