So i start my new job monday should all be full joys of spring!
Sadly i so out of money (and i eman out, ie not even $5 spare) that life is beyond fed-up right now! I knew coming here on a whim was gunna be tough, but right now i feel like earth should swallow me up!
How i going to get through first 2 weeks of work (before i get paid) with no clean clothes and 1 sandwich a day i never know!
Hell cant even afford to read any replies after this dollar spent!

Come on Lee chin up, at least your skint in a place where you want to be....yes. No seriously mate i don't seem to be able to help on the financial aspects of this thread apart from making the suggestion that when you start on Monday see if there is any chance of some of your wages being dropped into your pocket in advance, after all if you don't ask, you don't get. Must admit though to shoot out here with out some sort of financial back up could be classed as being slightly irresponsible, but i'm not going to judge you, as i don't know you, or know your situation as to why you just came on a whim, so to speak. Just try and work on the positives if there is any.
Good luck with it and Monday too.

Do you have a bank account? Ask for a small overdraft. If you have proof of employment I'm sure they'll help.

You should seriously consider Kim's advice re asking for a small advance. I find it a lot easier here to be open about money with people, I don't feel as judged, and I feel you will be met with a positive response if you approach someone in authority at work.
Good luck - do you have somewhere to stay?

Thanks guys, sorry was bit down earlier, been a s**t day, jsut found this internet computer thinks british pound coins are dollar coins though! (yes had 4-5 old pound coins in bag)
Ladies, i will try and give you a call tomorrow.
Regards work i will have to ask yes.
And Kim, yup a financial backup plan would have been great had it been an option, i put off coming to NZ for over two years as i didnt think i could do it financially. So i must admit maybe a little irresponsible yeah, but i figured either i head out here on a couple of grand and give it a whirl, or i give up the dream! And my actual backup was meant to be the $3000 i invested in my campervan, hence the sale, but nobody seems interested this week! lol
Anyway, sorry earlier, was but fed up, still got problems, but hey your right at least i am skint in NZ, and got a good job to go to monday.

Well to be honest "campervan" is what i refer to it as, its really an old van with rags tied up as curtains and no other real campervan amenties etc, so i wouldnt really expect anyone looking for an actual campervan to be interested in it. More other backpackers etc like i was. Anyhow it will sell sometime, maybe not today, maybe one day! :laugh
Apologises all, for original topic, i was having a bad bad day, felt awful, bored senseless and was so damn fed up that thought id use my last dollar to air some tension, feeling 100% happier now, started new job today which all went well, and never thought i'd ever say this in my life but i was SOOOO glad to be doing a days work you know! Got so bored and fed up (hence all above) sitting vegetating in van in rain with nowt to do and nowt cash to do anything (even eat!) that i was going stir crazy! I fell so much damn better for having done a 10hr shift of work. Sure the novelty will wear off! :laugh :laugh
And thanks all for kind offers, right now thanks to Western Union, family have loaned me some cash til payday so off to buy a meal !! haha

Good news Lee! Glad you've found yourself some work and got cash to tide you over.
If you need to sell your van later - Auckland and Christchurch are normally better than Wellington as that is where most backpackers arrive and depart from, so the market is usually more boyant.

Good to hear you're feeling happier!
Have you considered doing a for sale poster for the van and popping it up on various backpacker hostel notice boards?
Just a thought!
