Anyone know where to get picked ginger near Auckland CBD? Just unpacked my Wagamamas cookbook (my favourite restaurant BTW), and want to try making Yasai Yaki Soba. for that matter, has anyone tried any of the recipes themselves?

You can make it, but usually only from very fresh, seasonal ginger. I can ask my wife to translate the recipe if you like? It'll need to sit for 2-3 days though...

If you can access the book "The Joy of Pickling" you'll find a recipe there! Or try a websearch or http://www.epicurious.com

Our local Woolworths (OK on the Kapiti Coast but it should be everywhere I would have thought) has it with loads of other "world" foods - might be worth asking
