We have submitted our EOI (a very respectable 210 points on the scorecard) and are now waiting for the powers that be to look over our application. My OH has been offered a job in Wellington. We liked the city a lot when we visited in May - but were only there for a day and there was no wind so we don't know if we truly got a feel for the place.
The big debate we are having is should be try Wellington and see what we think or head to Christchurch? We loved Christchurch straight away and felt that could be the place to settle. The property seems to be cheaper and it perhaps offers a more "Englishy" feel to it.
Personally speaking, I would be happy in Christchurch but feel the city would offer less opportunities for my career as a journalist.
Any thoughts would be welcome - plus recommendations for places to live in both cities.

Plenty of opportunities in Christchurch for newspaper journalists and also radio journos but all the tv posts are currently filled. If you want magazine posts they are mainly based in Auckland but these days you can work from anywhere and Christchurch has a good number of trade shows etc for specialist magazines to need coverage of.
