Hi, we are filling in our NZQA full assessment at the mo. and it asks for an end of school certificate. My hubbie doesn't have one or even his 'O' or 'A' level certs...........it was back in the late 1970s he took them.
I know from doing a search and reading other posts that it is impossible to get copies as the schools don't keep references back that long ago. So my question is,
Will the NZQA be ok with us submitting the assessment without these documents?
Thanks in advance for all your help.

Yes,
NZQA accept that it is difficult to obtain all the information. All they are looking for is a general level of education. If you are having further education assessed they understand that you needed to have reached a suitable level before you undertook further education.
Make sure that you write on your application form that you are unable to supply details.

Or you could go up into the loft and look in the box you haven't opened for years - next to the one with the broken table lamp and trainset. You'll find your certificates under the old Beano annuals (the ones you're going to take to the carboot sale 'cos they're worth a fortune, remember?). Well that's where mine were anyway.
Sorry. in extremely silly mode at the moment. Wondering how the heck I could have got an 'O' level in the first place.
OK, serious now. I contacted them about this because in the UK we don't, technically, have a 'you spent 5 years in secondary school' certificate because (at the moment anyway) it's all individual subject based. They told me to let them have what info I could. Our FE system depends largely on reaching these levels before being accepted on higher level courses. Concentrate on your FE/HE qualifications info and evidence of experience. It's quite tricky persuading previous employers that you only want proof on headed notepaper and not a full-blown reference.

cheers guys.
lol at lockstock, I'm not sure that the new owners of our past 10 houses would be overly happy if we turned up asking to look in their lofts for missing certs. We think we have lost them along the way in one of our (far too numerous) moves. Having said that, no doubt we will send the NZQA form away and immediately find them when we don't need them lol.
