I hope someone can help me:)

I am trying to find a cutter that cuts potato's into chips (fries), my mum had one back in the UK that cuts potato's into crinkley chips (well she used to, I remember it as a kid!!!)

I have looked in Briscos etc but to no avail and I was wonder if anyone had seen anything like it in NZ.

I hope someone will know what I am talking about:p

Thanks
Jules

Keep an eye on TradeMe - I did a search just now for "potato chipper" and there was one for sale a while back - there's one on TradeMe at the moment but it's a commercial chipper! Depends how many you want to make I guess! :D

That is abit toooo big Moorf, don't need that many!! :laugh

The one I am looking for is about 3" square with a handle, abit like a cheese slicer but with a sharpe edge at the bottom so you can slice the potato and then cut it into chips:confused:

If no luck, why not ask someone in UK to post it out for you? That what I am going to do next.

Hi Sophia

I think I might have to see if my mum can get one for me from the UK and post it to me

Funnily enough, I saw one advertised in the paper last week in some gormet kitchen style shop on Custom st in Auckland. Sorry, but I don't remember the name of the shop. The said item was on sale for $89, but OH wouldn't let me get one...apparently I have enough kitchen gadget that I don't use. :laugh

How much ????

Hecky thump !!!!!!!!!!!

I must be a bit mean, but I can't justify spending $89 on a gadget to cut chips.

I remember the type that you're on about Jules and I haven't seen one in NZ either.

Mind you, I haven't been looking, but I will now - every time I go looking for the illusive vinegar bottle.

I get a bit carried away when it comes to kitchen gadgets....mind you just got my fill....spent some fly buys points (got loads due to car purchase) on a slow cooker and a fantastic frothy drink maker. Missing Costa coffee, so I will make my own at home now!!

Always wanted one of them - don't know why I don't get one really. How are you finding it ??

Got to do some experimentation with it, but it is supposed to take about 8-9 hours for 5 litres of 'stuff' to cook on slow setting or about 3 hours on high setting. Going to try out large veg/lentil/bean stew thing tommorrow, so will let you know how it goes.
