Does anyone get UK newspapers sent over to them here in NZ? I don't mean the weekly international versions, I mean the real deal...it's the one thing that I really really miss. I was looking, for example, at the guardian website to see if you could do an international subscription but I couldn't find any info. I know you can do an internet subscription and read it online but it's just not the same! I know a few people who I'm sure I could share the cost with...I just want to sit in bed for a few hours with the weekend papers...and I don't really care if they're a week out of date!!!
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Lil.

My best friend sends me all her favourite clippings from the Guardian in a wonderful parcel every 2 or 3 weeks. I really look forward to it.

Mil sends husband Motorcycle News every couple of weeks which keeps him quiet as he keeps it for the weekend:D . She also sends me some uk magazines so could you not get anyone to send you some over. Or just read the International News Paper UK (The Express I think) which keeps you updated.

as you are in Auckland, have a look in Borders or the larger whitcoulls stores, they stock international magazines, so may have the odd newspaper too.

I get a couple of magazines, mainly fashion ones (I'm so shallow and fickle!), but I mainly read the news online now. I read The Guardian every day still, and although I miss having the actual paper, I quite like my early morning online reading sessions.
My friend's Mum sends her the magazine from the Friday's Standard every week, which I get to read once she's finished with it.
No idea about international subscriptions - couldn't you read online and get the local papers to read in bed of a weekend. I find The Herald at weekends is far more substantial and informative than during the week. (Not that the bar has to be raised a great deal for that to happen...)

Thanks everyone - have tried Borders and Whitcoulls on Queen Street in Auckland but no luck. I think I'll have to ask someone "back home" to send me some...seems like the only way!

And you can try it for free!

Oh well - I tried Magazzino's last night but they said they only ever get the Guardian weekly. They told me it's just not worth their while to order in the UK versions - especially the weekend editions - because they have to order and pay for 4 weeks worth in advance and I think she said it takes a month to arrive...anyway, they had a Sunday Times there that you could buy for the princely sum of $27.80 - they had a couple of other UK domestic editions, such as the Sunday Post for any fellow Scots homesick for parochial tittle tattle, and I think they might have had Le Monde. The woman in the shop told me it costs $150 to order in the New York Times (I think that's what she said...???). Looks like it's back to the drawing board (or the computer screen) - thanks for the tip about pressdisplay, DrPhred. I'll check that out at the weekend.
