Well we have been uhmming and ahhing about going to NZ as it looked like we were finally going to get some job security in this country.......... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH :wah

My hubbie is in the last week of his 5week leaving period, 4 days to go and the new company have just said erm actually we've decided we're not going to open that office after all...... the job will now be in Manchester!! We live in South West Wales!

I have hidden all the knives and the car keys as I'm likely to do something I will regret at the moment:( Why are companies such $*£$^(($%)"

If ever we needed a sign that we are doing the right thing by emmigrating this was it.

Sorry for whining, it's just the last 4 companies (this one makes it 5) have lied to him about stuff.........from waiting until he'd started to ask if he'd take a wage cut for a bit 'cause they are up the financial creek without a paddle, to taking him on for one position then making him do a different job entirely..... ARE THERE ANY REPUTABLE, ETHICAL COMPANIES OUT THERE??

rrrrrrrrr, how fustrating and disheartening...sounds like you've both had a fair bit of misfortune on your other halfs job front...does this mean your definately going to the NZ then?? ha ha, Its been nearly 2 and a half hours since your post, are the knives back in the drawer yet??

Know exactly how you are feeling re job security, i have work for the same company for 15 years and have been displaced or moved or restructed 13 times. When the last one came along I applied for a couple of other roles but didn't get them so decided to take the money and run (a Long Long Way from them)
They have recently realised that I have IT skills that no one else in the company has and are starting to panic but I have 6 working days left so its too late.

Please put the knifes away before you do anything silly as you may struggle with your police checks if you have murdered a company director or two.

Good luck, yes looks like you getting signs too, but disreputable companies are everywhere.

Cheers for the sympathy guys. I'm just really fed up 'cause although my hubbie and I have been together for 13years we've managed to live together in the same house for less than half of that.....through no fault of our own. I' ve really enjoyed having him home every night and now that is all over the place. I've also just started a job that I'm really enjoying and now it looks like i may have to relocate at some point.

On the plus side, we've decided that it will give us the money to do the house up and we can then sell it and rent somewhere while we get the last bits of the emmigration process done and dusted. It will make it easier as we won't have a house to sell etc...... silver lining honestly :roll
