Hi
Has anyone used the sibling sponsorship route to get into N.Z?. My problem is that I do not have any qualifications, (but have loads of experience) and so consequently cannot get in via the skilled migrant route. The London immigration service told me that I need a job offer - any job will do - to go with my sponsorhsip application but that it has to remain open for the length of time that the application is processed which is currently 9 months! Not terribly helpful. They also do not give priority to these applications. I do not qualify under the 18-30 working holiday visa either. (I'm much older than that!)My understanding is that I can't work in N.Z whilst the application is being processed.
Can anyone give advice on what appears to me to be a Catch22 situation.
Thanks

Is it possible to get job and temporary work visa? They may well have changed the rules, but I remember reading something when we were first looking at applying a couple of years ago, that if you had a job offer, you could sometimes get work visa (for less than one year), that is not the same as a working holiday visa, which waiting to apply for other longer term visa types e.g. work to residency visa etc. This would mean that you would not get health care benefits, as only applies to work visa of over one year. I think you have to actually be in NZ to apply for this though, and supply written proof of job offer.

Rules may have changed since then, so maybe someone else has more up to date info here.
