Has anyone had their container put on a train for any part of the journy over to NZ .
And if so was there any problems with any of your electrical items , as I've been told that mine is being trained down from Auckland to Tauranga by The Moving Cmpany (NZ) LTD

(No mention of MAF charges YET)

Maybe our shipping container only went short distance from lyttleton port to hornby, near the moving company's HQ in chch by train, we had no problem with our electrical stuffs...

It seems to be very normal for your container to be sent via train once in NZ.

I believe that there are only a few ports used and it is cheaper for them to land at one of these ports and then ship it across country via train.

So you should have no problems - what problems do you expect for your electrical items from being on a train?

The reason I asked is that I was once told that companys dont transport new electrical appliences by train due to the amount of vibration they would recive during the journy, as apposed to boat and lorry transport.
But it seems that by the reply's (THANKS BY THE WAY:clap ) it should be all right.

Hi, Ours was sent by train from Tauranga to Auckland. We had no problems with electrical items.

I just wanted to say that my cd player did stop working properly once it has arrived, but I am not sure if it was the train that caused it. It was the only thing though, out of all of our electrical equipment. The fault that it developed was the left analogue output was distorted, but I managed to get it fixed for $160.

You can insure against damage of electrical equipment, for a premium, so if you're concerned, you might want to get some cover.

Never really thought about it before but the opposite happened to us, the CD player on our HI-Fi wasn't working before the move, but after the move works just great again now, maybe this was down to the vibration? I put it down to it prefering to be in NZ :laugh
