At long last I delivered the ITA to NZ house in London yesterday.
My police check took 37 days to return and arrived on Monday so I jumped on the train yesterday.
We have been very meticulous in gaining evidence etc even to the extent of having specialist medical opinions on aspects that may be queried. (Another thread refers to the fiasco that ensued with that!)
So when everything was checked in I was mortified to discover we had missed something out.
Our certified copies of our birth certificates did not contain the names of our parents and hence are not good enough.
It is stated on the ITA checklist but foolishly we missed it assuming that a birth certificate was a birth certificate !
I have contacted the registrars office where I was born and they are going to send me a full one.
Bizarrely this can be done over the phone with a credit card :)
Of note the cost was £7:00 where as the internet to find services that did this cost considerably more.
So the deed is done and we await feedback. :)
Hope everyone in the UK is enjoying the sun :)

Hi thirtysomethings - I read with horror about your experience getting all your papers for your ITA. I see that you say you had to have birth certificates with your parents on them - well we born in Zimbabwe in 1957 and heavens knows how we supposed to get that information as we dont have any mention on our birth certificates of our parents - any suggestions ?

Best thing I can suggest is try and see if you get this information. Via a web service or through whatever agencies exist in Zimbabwe.
Also contact NZ house via email perhaps and see if they can offer any advice. Did a search and found the link below of course verifying how genuine it is a different issue. Good Luck

I suspect that if you have birth certificates that do not have your parents names (i.e short certificates). Then the full certificate will exist. I am not sure why they require this information because (playing devils advocate) just because parents are stated does not mean they are the
true biological parent !
I think for completeness here a DNA check is also required:exit

You must have been so frustrated at that. All we're waiting for is my daughter's police check (30 days in) and then I'm off to London too. There's too many unpublicised postal strikes going on at the moment for me to trust even registered post. I keep going though all the paperwork and re-reading the tips booklet etc. I'm dreading not having the right evidence. I'm convinced this is the worst part. But the next bit doesn't look too thrilling by all accounts. It's a bit unnerving all the posts asking for info on case officers. I'm not sure I could cope with a bolshy one of those at the moment!
Hope all goes well Thirysomethings. :nice1

Thanks Lockstock hope yours go well to you- can only do so much and I have a feeling each case officer may interpret things differently if you know what I mean ! :)
Make sure your birth certs are pucker ! if there was any medical questions (Did you get a profesional opinion to maybe offset any queries?)
Evidence of work etc hours worked.........
Also in a past life were you a member of a terroist organisation??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Personally Im dreading the dissection of our ITA...
They have our blood xrays passports visa details in fact our entire lives what more could they possibly want????
Watch this space:exit :exit
NZ house is easy to find and straight up from the tube Charing Cross your in Trafalgar square. The direction you exit is the direction of NZ house.
http://maps.google.com/maps?source=ig&hl=en&q=trfalgar+square&um=1&sa=N&tab=wl
If you cut across the square and up the steps and then head up the gap between the buildings keep walking straight on you will hit haymarket and NZ house will be on your right. The front desk will direct you to a security door which is behind them.Walk up the stairs and you will see the waiting room.To get a ticket you press a red or blue button.make sure you press the one for residency ! Since the couple before me had pressed the wrong button !
enjoy

Always had a hankering to return but just not feasible.
Hoping we can find somewhere with a little bit of land around in NZ eventually !

I recently did some IT training
CompTIA A+N+Sec+ and Microsoft MCDST
hoping to go for an MCSA security next
Of course Microsoft has just changed the bar with these becoming defunct soon still valid mind.
Cardiff I thought was cool great nightlife and the bay development really good.

Hi thirtysomethings
Thanks for that advise - I had someone suggest I ask family still in Zimbabwe to try from their side. We did that and were told if they come into the office they could do it the same day -unfortunately its about 3 hour drive to this little town and terribly difficult to get there with no petrol to be found!! What a shame its had to go that way.
Anyway have sent off emails to NZ house as well as they web page you gave me and holding thumbs that something positive comes out of that.
Dont know why we seem to be running into brick walls getting these papers together - nothing simple
Thanks again - how blessed we are with this forum.
I got to bed every evening thinking well I will get all my answers from the forum when i wake up in the morning - so thanks

Cheers Ben&Clare and all the best with your journey and new start. I have a feeling that having a drink together on the other side will feel quire surreal ! :)
Ian&Jayne glad to be of help, I think you have to adopt the attitude of a game or sport and just duck and dive to get the results. Whether the end justifies the means - only time will tell :)

That's a bummer. Surely your qualifications will still be relevant because of legacy stuff? I suppose it is the sort of industry where you have to continually go on courses anyhow to keep up to date with new technology.
Cardiff is brill. Good nightlife and some fantastic eateries.
One of our friends goes surfing and we were supposed to get some lessons this summer but it's not stopped raining yet.

Yes the quals will still hold but IT does advance rapidly - though industry doesnt leap on board straight away like the home user market. So its fine :)
I have tried surfing once - there was snow on the ground and I had a dry suit on with no layers underneath.
I lasted approximately 30 to 40 minutes. And had as my friend put it classic ice cream head !.This was off Anglesey.
Id say give it a go regardless.
Hows things with your ITa now?:)
