Hi all

Well, we've got the Blue Stickers, We've booked the flights, and we will be landing in Christchurch on the 10th January 2008:cheers

I am about to start working my way through a "to do" list that is currently about 75 lines long:wah

This will be the first of many questions as I work my way through.

They are not going to be in any particular order, just as things occur to me to ask.

So......

Has anybody had any experience of hiring cars in Christchurch.

I am thinking along the lines of about 10 days to give us some initial transport and give us time to look around before buying a car - that will be another question:nice1

Any tips, re insurance etc. which I know can be a bit of a gotcha, good firms, firms to avoid.

Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim

When we went over last September we used Ezy Car Rental, they are based near the airport and will even collect you in their little van.

They are a very friendly bunch and the rentals are very affordable.

We plan to use them again when we head for Christchurch in Nov/Dec.

Good luck with the list:p

Hi Jim
If you dont need a car as soon as you arrive, save yourself a few days rental as it could be sat on the driveway while you recover from the journey.
If not, do a search for NZ rental cars and there are plenty to choose from.
State are pretty reasonable regarding car insurance and dont forget to bring proof of any No Claims Bonus you have, as they WILL take it into account in NZ

Steve

If you are a member of AA in UK...keep your membership details/card handy. You will get big discount on AA car insurance here, as well as NZ AA membership.

My experience is that Ezy has the best deal in NZ.
I would recomend them.

Thanks for the info.

I have been looking on the EZY site.

Did any of you take out the extra insurance cover? Do you think it is a good idea?

Cheers
Jim
