Hello to everyone !
We are a Yorkshire family currently spending most of our time looking out for the postman, we seem to have been waiting for ever for a yes or no. We are hoping to move to the Bay of Plenty area.
We have had a few problems with the Medicals. A slighly raised Blood Pressure has meant we have had to pay to get a report from a Consultant so this is holding everything up. Has anyone else had a problem like this ?

Hi, Welcome to the forum, I personally didnt have a problem with medicals, but I know there has been a few people on this forum who have had, and it has made the costs and time frame escalate considerably, if you do a search you should find more info.

Hi philwooden and welcome to the forum !

Sorry to hear you're having some medical issues with INZ, but you are certainly not alone in this. Many people have some (usually small) deviations in blood levels, blood pressure or some such. This can happen to any of us at some point in life and is certainly not unusual. INZ are just extremely thorough on the medical side since the rules were changed in November 2005, they really seem to want to cover their backs !

From personal experience, we had some, more complicated, medical issues as I have Fibromyalgia (an arthritic condition), and had a very hard time convincing them that I'm not incapacitated or dependant. This took quite a long time to resolve, but it did get resolved eventually, it just took a lot of time and patience.

If the consultant hasn't come up with anything worrying you should be fine. Like I said, they just want to cover their backs and it is standard procedure that if there are any deviations from the norm, it has to be looked at by a Medical Assessor. There are only very few of these (6 I believe) so that's why it takes a bit longer to resolve.

Try not to worry too much, although I do know from experience that that can be easier said than done :o.

Good luck with it, for what it's worth, will keep fingers and toes crossed for you !

Welcome to the forum! I had a detected heart murmur in my medical (first I knew of it!) and had to have an echocardiogram which showed no problem so everything was fine and we were granted PR with no further questions. I think it depends on how serious the problem is but generally unless they think it is a condition that is going to cost the NZ government a lot of money it is ok.

Do you know what the Consultant said in his report? If he said all is fine I would try not to worry too much.
