Hi All

Just thought I'd share the excitement - hubby has just completed not one but two interviews for two different but really good posts in NZ. Very excited as has taken a while to get to inteview stage. Initial feedback very good and hopefully we will have a job offer soon and begin the big move properly. Just had to post this as having been sharing our plans too much with folks here!! So maybe we'll be joining you guys out there either in Tauranga or Christchurch sooner rather than later!:D

Thanks for all the great advice in the meantime

We had the choice between Tauranga and Christchurch. Your partner's not a nurse by any chance. We decided to go with Christchurch when we found out house prices are high in Tauranga. Best of luck, Julie

Hi Julie

Not he's not a nurse although does work in the NHS - lab services. House prices are a big issue as Tauranga does seem very expensive compared to other places in NZ. If and when job offers come in am sure we'll have to think long and hard about where but just happy things a moving forward.

Two job interviews - two job offers!! Fantastic position to be in. Weighing up the pros and cons of Bay of Plenty vs Christchurch. Answers on a thread or PM please?!

Overall view of us is pretty laidback family with two wee boys aged 6 and 3 wanting family, fun outdoor time with not too much hassle at a very affordable price.

Think that sums us up in a very (short sentence but)weird way but what the hell.

Any tips, advice or help would be grand

thanks
K

Really pleased for you!

I can only offer you something very small in the way of helping you decide between two regions, but I've found it really helpful being able to directly compare one area with another.

I'm a novice at this forum lark, so I'll try and put a link, but if it doesn't work you need:

www.labourmarket.co.nz/regionalprofile

(I don't seem able to make a link, I've 'Googled' NZ regional profile and a HUGE document came up, made up from the 1996 (I think) census, it's really informative.)

I hope it's useful to you - I've had so much brilliant advice and information from this forum recently, it's nice to be able to offer something back!

All the best, Carol

Never went to T on our trip, but I liked ChCh- I love the mountains of South Island and the feeling that you could go to the snow, or be swimming in the sea. Just a lovely place.
