The EOI asks for work experience but you can only put down none or 2 years+. For this you get points. At the point of completing and submitting my EOI I will have 18 months experience but over 2 years when I move to NZ. Can I put 2 years experience or do I have to put none?

Any help greatly appreciated.

AFAIK, the information filled in on the EOI has to be based on the date of the EOI so that would meant that no you can't claim the points for 2 years work experience.

If you really need those points then I guess that you would have to wait?

Do you really need those point to apply? You would be able to update your ITA later (assuming you reached two years before you submit it).

Have you got any part time experience you can put towards the number of years? A week of experience is based on 30 hours work, so as you need an additional 6 months work experience this could come from for example 12 months of 15 hours a week part time work.

As a nurse I spent 3 years training of which half the time was spent working on the wards. Would this count as experience? I don't know.

If you are the applying under the Long Term Skill Shortage List, then the following may be applicable?

Where the Long Term Skill Shortage List specifies that occupational registration is required for a listed occupation, principal applicants must demonstrate that they held occupational registration while undertaking the work experience, if occupational registration is required in the country in which the work occurred.

I assume that you don't get your nursing council registration until after you have qualified as a nurse? In which case any work whilst training wouldn't count.

Nurses are always in demand though, so can't see why you would have any trouble at all in getting work in NZ?
