Please help ! anyone knows of any IT jobs currently going ? I am looking for a job in Systems Eng. Mostly to do with hardware/tech support.
Its been 6 months now that I am waiting for decision with the NZIS. If i do get an offer that could boost up my application. So far I have contacted so many agencies and its been fruitless. I cannot afford to go now to NZ for a visit as I am trying to save up for my actual move.
I could PM my Resume/CV

Hi
Have you tried companies direct like Fujitsu, Infinity, HP or Gen i who I know look at CV from abroad etc.
Maybe its your CV or length of exp/ type of hardware, can be many reasons. Main one is not being here though, most agencies will not deal with you until you are in the country unless you have rare knowledge or exp that they are deperate for.

If it's windows/intel you shouldn't have much of a problem. The higher end market is very small though. Telecom and Gen-i are looking currently as are ANZ I believe

My experience is that agents just ignore you unless you have the right to work. It was uncanny - once I got PR, the emails started coming back! Haven't got a job yet, but at least we're communicating now. :)

Thanks JubJub,
I just had a look at their website. I have emailed them my resume.
To others, thanks also for the replies. I guess employers want you to have the PR first, rather then offering you the job.

This subject comes up quite often here - employers do generally want to see some sign of commitment upfront, to weed out the dreamers from the people who actually are serious about the move. PR is not strictly necessary, but certainly is an excellent way to show commitment.
I think you'll have a better chance with firms that hire directly. Many firms go through recruiting agencies, and that approach works against the migrant. (Agencies don't get paid until after a candidate starts work - which will always be further away with an overseas candidate than with an NZ based one. There are also more opportunities for the placement not to work with an overseas candidate, therefore more opportunities not to get paid.) Don't hate recruiters, but be aware of their economic motivation and constraints - they don't work for you, and they don't get paid until a warm body is in an office for a few months.
Good luck. You just need one YES.

It is possible to get a job with having PR, especially with the large IT companies.
As you are based in London I would HIGHLY recommend going to the NZ Expo
in London - some of the most well known IT companies attend. I got my job (will enabled us to be granted PR) through last year's Expo, and I know I am not unique in this.
Rgds.,
Nick.
