We're currently in the process of a Self Migration to NZ and I'd like to know if its worth securing notarised copies of original documents or is it best to use the originals, e.g. birth certs, marriage cert, passport, etc.
Thanks,
Steve

We've done the notarized copies, so we didn't need to worry about having originals getting lost in the mail.
They might still ask to see the originals though!

I know that for my nursing license, they accept notarized copies. a friend of mine (in NZ) made sure I knew that I would need the originals later and that I probably would not get them back if I sent them in for immigration paperwork.

When I helped family members come here I sent notarised copies of things like my NZ passport back page, and business paperwork. Never had a problem with them not accepting anything.
