Seem spring arrived early in south island, warmer weather are to blame?

Flowers starting to open, daisy coming out, more birds flocked to our garden and fields, looking for somewhere to nesting. More birds in NZ than ever we saw in UK, got greenfinch, goldfinch, lots of sparrows!, lots of magpie!!! nests hidden in our gardens...
Two new members of ducks joined last week, just spotted they still there, two mallord duck, male and female, so my son named them Reggie and Pattie :o even we haven't got any pond! A hawk called "bird" after bird in Bob the builder:o that also hanging around our house & garden since we moved in.
These ducks joined the wildlife crews live in our fields including Miss Kitty, a beauitful brown hare, keeping her a secret from farmers as hares are "pest" to them mean instead of fox hunting like UK, they do hare hunting:exit She come to our garden every day..she is so huge!
I wondering what next..a deer?? We still got two sheep in the field.. they will be off to butcher soon :o

Sophia,

That sounds like paradise, my hubby will be in his element, he absolutely loves wildalife, it will make a change to all the seagulls we currently have near Blackpool!

I was up at Hutt the day after the last day of the season 5 years ago as they'd just had a huge dump - so get there before mid Oct and you'll get a day or 2 in ;)

It's kind of feeling spring like here too....I've been picking lemons from the tree in the garden....it's actually been dry enough to go out this week. Been baking lovely cake...think the sun shining through the windows gets me in the mood :)

20 degrees in the carpark in Takapuna this afternoon. Calves in the paddocks on One Tree Hill, newly born lambs just outside Coromandel at the weekend.

Definately something happening :D
