There are loads of citrus trees growing everywhere in Auckland, which is really fab :)

Was just wondering if the climate in Canterbury is suited to growing citrus trees too? Anyone got any, and do they cope well with frost etc, or do you have to protect them from cold?

It will really depend on your garden's shelter etc. On the whole we don't have many lemon trees around here (inland) but I know several friends who have huge lemon (and grapefruit!) trees in their Christchurch gardens.

We had a couple in our garden in Brighton in Chch, but I've had no success with them out here near Darfield, a wee bit too cold and too short a summer season I think. Either that or I'm just crap at growing lemons.... :uhoh

If you were determined I am sure you could make an area lemon-friendly in a garden.. nice warm dry spot.... just remember to pee on them often :nice1
