Hi guys...in a great mood today. We sat down last night and ticked off a checklist of every piece of evidence we need to cover all criteria on the partnership visa application. We had so much we could even afford the luxury of slimming it down a bit (the whole lot covered most of my bed when it was laid out so thought it might be a bit easier on the case worker to slim it down a bit). Anyway...it brings me to my question...I picked up my medical results yesterday and I expected a "certificate" (much like the police certificate) but instead recieved an A3 x-ray photo and a set of documents sealed in a brown envelope. Now, I asked the receptionist if everything was ok, she said yes. The doctor didn't need to speak to me and I counted 2 lungs on my x-ray when I looked at it so I'm assuming I passed all the tests :laugh .

Do I have to hand all that in with the other evidence I have amassed? Or is there some kind of certificate lurking in the ominous brown envelope? Also...I thought you could look at the results before handing the visa in. I know some countries require sealed results, but thought NZ was not one of those countries. Like I said, I'm sure everything is fine and I know I am being paranoid, but I don't want to get further down the line (ie: handing over more money) only for the case worker to say "your cholesterol sucks and you are staying in Blighty. Oh...cheers for the couple of hundred quid you've given me by the way!" :laugh

Hi Bobby

We handed in everything they gave us. At the bottom of the medical form the doctor says whether or not he thinks there is any cause for concern and the important thing is that he checks 'no'!!

We opened ours before we sent them in and checked everything because we have heard of doctors forgetting to tick or mark some section or other and them having to be returned, so I would simply undo the envelope and have a good look and put your mind at ease. Our doctor didn't even seal the envelope. You could always buy a fresh envelope to seal it into if you felt you needed to, I guess??

All the best and good luck with your application!

Hi,
This may help you http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8079

Our doctor insisted that we check our medical forms out before we send them on as he said if he has made a mistake it will delay the application. However other Doctors do not like you opening them . I would have opened mine in case of mistakes regardless of whether they were sealed or not. As regards xrays they do not want to see them but you must keep them in case they find a query, but if they are ok then they will not be needed, but just hang on to them untill you are given the ok.

Kindest regards

There isn't a certificate - just the medical report pages you printed out and which the doc will have filled in and signed (I have a vague feeling doc has to initial every page but it's been a while since we did ours)

We also opened the medical report - because we knew there would be problems and wanted to see exactly what was highlighted and how it was worded - and then just put it in a clean envelope and sealed it.

Looking at the med report didn't prevent my partner getting PR.

Good luck.

Phew!! Thanks very much guys. I didnt want to have to pay out all over again if I wasn't allowed to look at the results...but like you say, I've paid god-knows how much for the tests so I should be able to look at it.

I know I'm a born worrier but I wonder if everybody else was like this when they put in a partnership application? If I'm not worrying about the amount of evidence we have, I was worrying about the police report (even though I have never so much as called the police in my entire life! haha), and now the medical! haha I will be glad when this is all over and I'm sipping a Ginger Tom at the Dux in Christchurch next year!

Thanks again for all your help guys...oh...and by the way...as a little bit of a tip for those seeking a panel doctor for their medical, DON'T use Knightsbridge Doctors Visa Medicals. I don't know whether the cost (£320) was reasonable for x-ray and full medical with bloods, but the service was ridiculous. Firstly I was told to attend the medical in their West End offices (if you look at their website it clearly tells you that this branch only handles NZ and USA visas). When it got to 9am and nobody was answering the buzzer I called the number I had been given only to be told that i should be in Knightsbridge!!! And it wasnt just me who encountered this. An entire family were waiting for their USA visa medical at the same time. We all had to rush across West London to get to Knightsbridge (ended up about 30mins late) so my blood pressure was already up. After all that, the Doctor's "bed-side manner" left a lot to be desired. He blamed me for going to the wrong office in the first place and wouldnt take my explaination that i got the address from his own website. All I could do was remain calm and thankfully the exam only lasted about 45mins! I wish I could have recorded the whole episode so I could present it to NZIS as evidence of a degree of committment to moving to NZ! haha

Thanks again guys...great help!

Bobby
