We are waiting patiently for our case officer and now our eldest son is feeling quite homesick. He is saying that he is missing York where he lived and the English culture etc. I really think that he would be better moving elsewhere and when the summer comes he will be happier. They are at present in Katikati where my other son lives. they have no children but my other son has and their lifestyle is completely different. we are hoping to settle in Katikati ourselves as I love the community spirit there. They don't really do much very only go for walks with their dog and they like theatre and stuff like that. Do any of you know where the best place would be for their kind of life

if its as small as it looks on the map, I am sure that your son will feel a bit low, compared to York,
My son is 17 and we live on the outskirts of Invercargill, with no bus service he can't get out unless I take him.
not that hes bothered, he hasn't made any friends that invite him out any way!
Maybe look for a larger community thats near your other son, but will have more things that your son can do, ie sport, school, activities such as swimming pools, bowling alleys etc?

Hopefully your son will feel more settled soon.

Jan, apart from the capital and Auckland there is not really much to say. Wonder if he will feel the same when you come out here?

How are you getting along by the way? Have you got sorted with those medicals yet?

I suppose he has looked at Tauranga? It's only down the road but has a lot more going for it - has a theatre of sorts (my son works there at weekends!) although it is not exactly London standard!!

What is he doing job-wise? Is he free to be anywhere? It would be a shame if he decided to quit at this point.
